8 FTE, 32 hours/week) temporary position for the 2022-2023 school years GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The junior high academic interventionist and counselor assistant implements a school program which encourages a positive learning environment and supports The Classical Academy's mission statement and Core values.
The interventionist will assist students in their academic progress while providing a range of interventions as needed.
They will also manage student 504 plans under the guidance of the school counselor.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works with peers and administration to engage in relational learning and accomplish the following:
Supports students' academic preparedness by implementing curriculum and adapting instructional strategies and materials according to the needs of students.
Assists classroom teachers and the school counselor in carrying out instructional programs and lessons.
Support struggling students with organizational skills and assignment completion.
Partners with families and their child through regular communication.
Coordinates additional academic support with the Afterschool Workshops.
Intentionally and actively builds relationships with staff & students across departments.
Works with students in one-on-one and/or small group situations to reinforce curriculum, remediation of academic skill deficits.
Models and instructs virtuous character traits and promotes growth in wisdom, virtue, and compassion in self and students.
Attends meetings, conferences, and in-services as required.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree required
Experience:
Minimum of three years teaching experience Specific training and/or experience in providing academic student support Experience working with students in an educational setting KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English Basic math including algebra and accounting skills.
Customer service and public relations skills Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with frequent interruptions Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions Ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision.
Ability to provide a warm and caring attitude toward students and staff Ability to maintain confidentiality across all settings for all students Ability to learn and consistently adhere to special education procedures Ability to work well with students and parents from diverse backgrounds and populations Ability to effectively work with students one on one and/or in small groups Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, students, and parents Ability to provide a warm and caring attitude toward students and staff Knowledge of TCA operations, laws, rules, regulations and applicable policies or procedures.
