Responsibilities The Facilities BIM Technician / Drafter supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.
The candidate will:
Work with engineering team on the design of building infrastructure Mechanical and/or Electrical systems.
Independently, prepare the layout of Mechanical and/or Electrical building infrastructure systems using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software.
Design, document and coordinate implementation of building Mechanical and/or Electrical system upgrades, repairs, and remodeling projects.
Provide mechanical design experience for infrastructure HVAC & plumbing systems but not limited to the capability to select mechanical and plumbing equipment, sizing of ductwork, sizing of hydronic pumps and piping systems (chilled water, heating water, and steam systems), and sizing plumbing pumps and piping systems (domestic water and waste & vent systems), and/or provide electrical design experience for infrastructure electrical systems but not limited to the capability to select electrical equipment, design of uninterruptable power systems (UPS), motor control centers, 12,470 switch gear and main breakers, 480 volt substations, 480 volt breakers, power distribution units (PDU's), remote power panels (RPP's), grounding systems, lighting systems, and control voltage systems.
Develop projects in compliance with engineering codes and principles, relevant specifications, and customer requirements.
The BIM Technician/Drafter/Planner will work closely with the Facility Design Engineers to create drawing changes for maintenance, repair and alterations of the facilities.
Conduct required site surveys to confirm that existing baseline drawings are accurate and to make appropriate changes if needed.
Evaluate design changes, specifications and drawing releases related to Facilities projects.
Design changes that occur during implementation will be closely tracked to ensure the final baseline drawings incorporate the changes.
Assist during project closeout, the Designer will work closely with the Quality Assurance, Power panel and Configuration.
Management team members to ensure all action regarding drawings and power panel schedules are completed within the project's period of performance timelines.
Be required to plan project activities that meet project milestone requirements and work load schedules.
Support planning requirements, which requires the BIM Technician to coordinate with multiple design engineers to complete a final design package that incorporates architectural, electrical, fire and mechanical systems.
Support project managers with coordination of project implementation and documentation.
Evaluate and prepare drawing releases related to Facilities projects.
Gather and submit quarterly, bi-yearly and yearly baseline documentation required per the contract.
Coordinate with BIM Manager in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
Qualifications Must have one of the following combinations of education and
Experience:
HS Diploma (or GED) and 8 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 6 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 4 years of general experience; Master's degree and 2 years of general experience.
Must have 4 years of experience involving operation, maintenance and service to buildings and facilities.
Must be proficient with computer aided drafting applications and knowledge of industry drawing standards.
Must have experience in designing of building infrastructure systems.
Must be familiar with engineering standards and building codes.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Programs.
Must be proficient with computer aided drafting programs (CAD).
Must be familiar with Autodesk Revit software.
Must be proficient in reading and understanding blue prints.
Must be able to climb ladders.
Must be able to lift 40lbs.
Must be able to work below raised floors.
Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Desired Requirements:
Have experience in Architectural, Mechanical and/or Electrical design for construction and maintenance projects within a DoD environment.
