The Hospitalist provides medical care for patients; and facilitates transition of care at discharge from the hospital by communicating a summary of the hospital course, discharge medications, pending diagnostic studies, and follow-up instructions to the primary care provider and pertinent consultants.
The Hospitalist assumes responsibility for comprehensive patient care to assure that the health care needs of patients are being met, including attendance at Interdisciplinary or nursing rounds and daily communication with the team caring for the patient; renders quality medical services according to qualifications as an internal medicine or family practice physician with appropriate referrals, follow-up and hospitalization; supports hospital medical staff and other area physicians utilizing the Hospitalist service by overseeing the inpatient experience, including providing follow-up care for patients in the outpatient realm; communicates health status and treatment plan to patient, family and hospital staff; documents information completely for patient care and billing purposes; assists in the review of work flow, office practices and objectives; and teaches medical students, residents and others in graduate health education programs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
