Essential Functions:
1.
Interprets between spoken English and Sign Language in school related classes, events, staffing and meetings for students, school personnel, parent and others 2.
Collaborates with students who are deaf/hard-of-hearing and classroom teachers to optimize the classroom experience 3.
Attends IEP meetings and fosters collaboration between parents and the school regarding services as a professional consultant regarding the students sign language communication 4.
Participates in appropriate professional development activities 5.
With special arrangement and curriculum guidance from assigned teacher, provide tutoring to deaf/hard-of-hearing students 6.
If sharing a schedule with another interpreter, communicate with that interpreter to ensure that the integrity and continuity of interpreting service is maintained 7.
Maintains appropriate records related to services provided 8.
Implements, by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives 9.
Attends and participates in faculty meetings and curricular meetings as required 10.
Plans for and directs the work of educational assistant(s) and/or volunteer(s) as assigned 11.
Effectively models and reinforces positive learning skills and work habits and also encourages students to seek more knowledge 12.
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the principal including, but not limited to, committees, duties both inside and outside the school building, and extra-curricular activities 13.
Incorporates effectively the use of the Teaching & Learning Cycle ,TLC 14.
Provides Individualized Education Plan (IEP) services as written in the childs IEP 15.
Designs instruction that is tailored to the students areas of need 16.
Work collaboratively with general education staff and other IEP service providers to coordinate instruction, accommodations, modifications and services for students 17.
Maintain appropriate, complete records/information and adhere to timelines on students and keep state reporting systems updated as required by the District or state and federal regulations 18.
Provide crisis intervention, as necessary, for students on caseload 19.
Models an effective understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion 20.
Incorporates legal rights and due process for children with special needs 19.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, get along with co-workers, and interacts with colleagues in a professional manner 20.
Demonstrates a positive attitude towards change 21.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee is frequently required to exert average or above average physical effort in the Center Based Special Education programs.
