Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for software design, coding, unit test and documentation in support of a migration of advanced telephony applications and call routing software from the VMS operating system to Linux. Development work will require advanced knowledge of pthreads/concurrent programming, process synchronization and communications programming.
Minimum required skills/
Experience:
- 7 years' experience with Linux application development utilizing C/C++.
- 5 years developing multi-threaded (pthreads) applications.
- Linux scripting with ksh, Python
- Background in systems programming including automated failure handling and recovery, high performance (near real-time) systems, and communications software (i.e. TCP/IP, UDP).
- Working knowledge of Linux Inter-process Communications (IPC)
- Experience in developing high-reliability applications in a mission critical environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communications skills.
Desired skills:
- Experience in developing for a lights-out environment, including excellent fault analysis skills.
- Experience in porting UNIX code to/from non-UNIX operating systems.
- Experience with HP OpenVMS systems, and especially with the systems services (ASTs, locking, etc.)
- Familiarity with Oracle Message Queue (OMQ).
- Software Configuration Management with CVS.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
