Job Description
Directs and coordinates activities and personnel of the Ortho group in the Operations department in processing of aerial and satellite imagery, ensuring production and quality standards are met by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel. Performs production work in these areas as required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES
1.Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Ortho department.
2.Review production orders, data types, quantities, and specifications to determine and maintain appropriate staffing levels for Imaging through Ortho production.
3.Manages department expenses and labor costs and approves overtime while staying within budget.
4.Manages workflow needs and develops and maintains department schedules to meet required service levels and to meet all project schedule requirements.
5.Maintains image production systems, software systems, and identifies enhancement opportunities.
6.Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors, internal IT departments, internal clients, and external clients as appropriate.
7.Supervises assigned team(s) including training and performance management.
8.Develop or revises standard operational and working practices and ensures technicians adhere to internal and external compliance standards.
9.Supports technology analysis and identifies new technology to enhance production processes, lower costs, and improve product delivery.
10.Reviews production reports and delivers reports to management as required.
11.Ensures business practices remain current best practices and develops and maintains documentation of departmental processes.
support to Image Processing, AT, Ortho functions and provides support to other internal staff as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the ortho production staff to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience >5 yrs experience in an imaging
environment, experience with ortho production, image radiometry, aerial triangulation.
Certified Photogrammetrist or Certified Mapping Scientist preferred
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five years experience in imagery/ortho production is required. Proficiency with Image Processing/Ortho-rectification/Ortho-mosaic/DEM/Auto-correlation software required. Must have experience in setting up quality control procedures and methodologies in the Imaging/Ortho-production environment. Experience in process optimization and workflow management. Experience in managing large imagery mapping projects; i.e state-wide mapping programs; COG/Multi-county mapping programs. Must have the ability to manage a group of technical non-exempt and exempt employees, maintaining a high degree of motivation and focus within the department. Must be detail oriented, ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a changing environment. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication leadership and motivational skills with a strong commitment to quality required.
SOFTWARE PACKAGES
Proficiency with Orthovista, OrthoMaster and associated INPHO products
Proficiency with INTERGRAPH mapping products
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
