HVAC Technician


Summary: Overall responsibility to diagnose and repair HVAC systems to include: heating, air conditioning, water heaters, chillers, boilers, refrigeration systems, and building automation systems. Provide customer satisfaction through a relentless commitment to extraordinary quality, craftsmanship, professionalism, and safety standards. Accept personal responsibility with regard to assigned tasks as well as the mentoring of apprentices. Consistently promote the policies, principles, and core values of HPE while maintaining schedules, productivity goals, and overall project or job profitability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Providing service, preventative maintenance, repair, or installation of systems/equipment by:
Performing layout accurately for system, fixture, and equipment installations
Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and problem solving of HVAC systems/and equipment
Identifying repair or replacement needs to maintain equipment and systems
Ordering equipment and supplies to maintain inventory; ensuring availability of items when needed
Perform testing of systems for code, specification, and contract or service agreement compliance
Meeting with PM's contractors and/or engineers for the purpose of discussing and solving problems with new installation or discussing future project needs.
Responding to emergency situations promptly for the purpose of resolving immediate heating/cooling/plumbing problems
Preparing documentation accurately and timely (i.e. work orders, PM forms, start up forms, time cards, etc.)
Maintaining appropriate levels inventory of tools and truck stock
Ensuring equipment start ups are completed accurately and in a timely manner; providing adequate information to end user

Maintaining all tools and equipment in serviceable condition; ensuring safe operating condition and availability
Using materials and other resources conservatively to promote project success and profitability
Maintaining vehicle by performing period maintenance (oil changes, brake check, tire rotation/5k miles) and keeping vehicle clean and organized
Collecting and recycling scrap according to company policy.
Preventing theft of personal and Company property by promoting a secure work environment
Sharing innovative ideas for improvement with regard to new products and installation/productivity methods

Wearing the proper personal protective equipment as required at all times
Reporting any unsafe conditions, near misses, or injuries promptly through the proper channels
Maintaining a neat, clean, organized, safe work environment at all times
Promoting, attending, and actively participating in all safety meetings and training
Accepting responsibility for your own personal safety, the safety of co-workers, and liability exposure of the Company

Ensure HPE's Pride and Quality:
Installing all systems and products per code, specifications, submittals, and contract documents
Testing equipment to ensure it meets quality standards
Immediately reporting any substandard craftsmanship to supervisor
Performing to the best of your ability at all times, and taking pride in both your work and your company

Communicates with customers and internal sales:
Requesting quotes on parts and service with sales department
Communicating information from sales to the customer in a professional manner
Working with dispatcher to schedule future service, repairs, or preventive maintenance
Providing quotes to customers at jobsite when requested

Participating in on-call rotations as scheduled
Supporting the general welfare of your co-workers
Developing good listening skills by being open minded and receptive to optional methods and procedures
Participating in the orientation and mentoring of new employees in the department
Sharing trade knowledge and skills with co-workers, especially apprentices/lesser skilled employees

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Applicable HVAC standards including system installation methods, procedures, and control sequencing
Methods used in the maintenance of heating/air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment
Trade tools and equipment used for repair or installation
Advanced functions of Mechanical Systems
Applicable code, regulation, and certification requirements
HPE Safety & Quality program requirements and procedures
HPE organizational strategy, vision, mission, values, corporate structure, and related policies & procedures
Corporate and department Chain of Command
Proficient knowledge of math

Skilled in:
Safe and proper use of all tools and equipment
Installation and layout of various HVAC/R systems
Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving
Practicing effective communication skills with co-workers and customers (listening, asking questions, etc.)
Keep abreast of new technologies and training required to stay on the cutting edge
Ability to lead apprentices in a professional and productive manner

EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Minimum 7 years of work experience of increasing responsibility and technical progression
Applicable state, city, and/or county licenses as required such as: EPA Certification, journeyman
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Safety Training as required
Additional HPE Incidental Training as required
Construction industry experience a plus

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
