PHYSICIAN (PEDIATRICS)

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions and Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0602, Physician Series. Basic Requirements Degree:
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (external link); Association of American Medical Colleges (external link); Liaison Committee on Medical Education (external link); Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (external link), a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GP-13) or equivalent. Specialized experience must include professional Pediatric Medicine practices, principles, and theories to carry full responsibility for medical care of a wide range of childhood illnesses and injuries; clinical decision making principles, population base management strategies, and principles of disease management through the use of clinical path guidelines and the community resource/referral system; universal infection control guidelines and practices and accrediting agencies' (e.g., AAAHC, JCAHO, HSI) medical practice standards; evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide variety of childhood diseases and medical conditions in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as phlebotomy, lumbar puncture, endotracheal intubation, intraosseous and intravenous infusion, circumcision, placement of umbilical catheters, needle thoracatomy, removal of minor skin lesions such as warts and skin tags, etc.:

You must submit a copy of Transcripts and License. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GP-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GP-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GP position or held a GP position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of professional Pediatric Medicine practices, principles, and theories to carry full responsibility for medical care of a wide range of childhood illnesses and injuries. 2. Knowledge of clinical decision making principles, population base management strategies, and principles of disease management through the use of clinical path guidelines and the community resource/referral system. 3. Knowledge of universal infection control guidelines and practices and accrediting agencies' (e.g., AAAHC, TJC, HSI) medical practice standards. 4. Skill in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide variety of childhood diseases and medical conditions in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as phlebotomy, lumbar puncture, endotracheal intubation, intraosseous and intravenous infusion, circumcision, placement of umbilical catheters, needle thoracatomy, removal of minor skin lesions such as warts and skin tags, etc. 5. Ability to collect, organize, record, and communicate, in a meaningful way, data relevant to pediatric health assessments including a detailed family and medical history, physical examination, and laboratory tests. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
